Ever since discovering the personal finance blog world, I've also discovered the freebie world. There are lots of opportunities to obtain free samples and coupons for your favourite everyday products and those that you may not have tried otherwise.
Yesterday I received a Purex Natural Elements Ultra Concentrate sample. I'm excited about this because I've been meaning to switch to a more bio-friendly laundry detergent for a while. To be quite honest I don't even recall ordering this sample but I've attached a link to their page in case you want to check it out.
As for the not so free...
I wrote a couple weeks back about the bankruptcy of my favourite local sports store, SportSwap. Before the bankruptcy I had purchased a $20 card that gave me 10 skate sharpenings. I realized this week that my card was worthless and I was desparate for a sharpening!
Contrary to my budget, I had to purchase a new card, from another great Canadian sports store, SportMart. It's the same deal but I bit out of my way. The other downside is that I've officially gone into the red for the budget period although I will be using that card for the next couple months. For all you hockey players out there, I can attest to the quality of sharpening so if you're looking for a place to take your skates, SportMart is a great and cheap option.
UPDATE***
I went back to my reader and found out that I did indeed order the free sample from Purex thanks to Mama Bear at I've Got a Bit of Space to Fill. Check out her regular post titled Freebies which has links for both Canada and the U.S.
Cheers ;)

Freebies are great! Don't forget you can often get freebies of things you already use by writing a happy letter to the company.
The executives there tend to send coupons and/or sample packs back.
Geez, that's a great tip Abby. I never thought of doing that.
Thanks!
